Hi , Im doing a DIY patio in the garden ,i bought a load of very heavy Marshalls La Linia concrete paving off ebay a while back ,they are 80mm thick with the top 1/2" in coloured granite chips.
Apart from the bad back i have lugging these around ,im wondering what type of block splitter will be sufficient to cut them ,(300mm wide blocks). Will one of those Probst manual jobs do or do i need to hire an hydraulic version?
I dont want to use a stone saw.

they sound like a commercial grade, I have only seen these on schools and such
funnily enough a lot of people opposite the schools ended up with their drives done in them :;):
answering your question I cannot see a block splitter working
IMHO a stihl saw,diamond blade and water suppression is your key to success

Thanks for the reply ,i was hoping a block splitter would work as i didnt really want to have to saw them. 
The specs for the splitters claim to cut 100mm or more and 300- 600mm wide)
Or is it the type of dense concrete block being hard to cut?
I did cut three with a bolster and lump hammer but it was hard work.
A couple of daft questions ,would in your opinion the hire shop have any objections if i took in a block to try to see if it works with a splitter?
And if i hired a Stihl saw do they come with a diamond blade (not cheap to buy) and the dust supression water pump?

You should be able to just connect a hose pipe to the saw, the saw has a little tap on it, or I'm sure the hire firm will hire you a water bottle for some more money...
The disc is a usable part so that will cost you to...
You will get a much better cut with the saw,
Price it up first so how much they want for hire then hope you don't get rained off or even consider looking on auction sites and use it when needed and sell it on when done, that's what I done with my sthil saw mixer and kango, as I'm just doing DIY
