First off a big thanks to Tony and the rest of the guys who run this site, it's been a really big help even just to know what questions to ask.

So to the point, I'm currently cleaning and re-sanding my Mam's concrete block paved driveway. She got this done a good long while ago because of the pleasing aesthetics with never a thought for the maintenance work. It had been weeded and re-sanded as necessary up to a few years ago but hasn't had any work for the last 2(?) years and is in a bit of a state with weeds.

I won't be around to maintain it so I figured I'd see if we could spend some money on it to get the job done well. So, I'm power hosing out all the old sand and hopefully the weeds with it, will re-sand it and then would really like to seal it with a good, long lasting polyurethane based treatment (if I've understood anything on the site).

So basically, is this feasible for a residential job?
Am I right to look for a polyurethane sealant? And that it also needs to be breathable?
And are there any recommendations for choice of sealant? I've heard Geocel is good but they couldn't specify the specific product.

We've had a couple people in to give us a quote for the job but no one seems to use sealant and only seem to be aware of polymetre sand sealants that would turn the sand rock hard, removing all flexibility from the drive, eventually destroying it.

Any truth to that?

Thanks for your time.
