Hi

I wanted some advice on which mortar colour would best suit a patio laid using predominantly dark eclipse granite slabs (600 x 600) (with a few lighter ones for the border) laid with a 6mm joints.

I am going to use the GftK VDW 800 epoxy resin mortar based on recommendations here and the options available are

Natural
Stone Grey
Basalt (Dark Grey)

Has any one used a darker mortar with these paving before?

The paving looks similar to these pictures

It depends. Do you want the grout colour to contrast or blend in with the paving?

Hi Steve

I was just after some advise as to what would look good.

I wanted to go Basalt (Dark Grey), but I am unsure if this would be too contrasting specially with the silver/lighter coloured flags. I tried searching on google for similar patios, but couldn't find any using the darker mortar.

What mortar colour do you think is used on these patio? I would settle for any of these looks http://www.ced.ltd.uk/img....(1).JPG

Since I have a mixture of grey and silver granite, Stone Grey would be the safest bet as it would just blend in.

The grout on those pictures looks like dark grey or basalt. I would be brave and use dark grey or basalt on the dark granite and then the stone grey on the light granite

The sun, it happened one day when i was not there im pleased to say

Turned out the glass was slightly over size for its slot

Not quite the bed was screeded for speed but the odd flag required aditional bedding to keep it perfectly flat
