Quick question for you guys, I have a client who has a domestic drive but doesn't like the blocks laid in herrinbone, Did I read that any other laying style doesn't lock the blocks in. I think he just wants them laid in straight lines or like brick work.
Many thanks

I have laid 200mm x 100mm pavers in brick bond on a driveway without any issues, the only pattern what's not good enough for a driveway is basket weave but to be honest that pattern looks bobbins anyway
the best and strongest for a driveway will always be a herringbone pattern as the paving interlocks with the adjacent blocks the most

good point, the smallest over lap would be 40mm if you laid a large block on bond over lapping a medium with equal amount to each side of the medium size which is 160mm x 160mm, personally I never laid this way but have seen it time after time
the over lap for the rest of the laying pattern would average 60mm or 80mm with the odd 120mm if you laid half bond with a large tegula which are 240mm long which if you did lay a large half bond you would end up with straight lines from row to row somewhere on the design which is best to be avoided
