hi guys,
This afternoon I sealed our neighbours patio. Shes an old dear on her own so I thought 'why not?' I jetted it off a couple of days ago,it came up a treat.
The problem is as its dried, it has came up patchy. It had a good even coat of seal. Some areas on the same slab even, are dry and the rest of the slab has taken the seal.
Any ideas?

Other crustaceans are available. :D
It doesn't look too bad today. Another coat and that will be it I suspect. She is pleased with it as it is

I used a roller. Polyurethane sealer too. It went on fine on my block pave drive (70m2) and the Indian stone patio (60m2). I assume as the stone is of a consistent density and the slabs can be slightly more porous in places ,it has sucked up too much seal in patches.
I'll give it another layer tomorrow when the original coat has gone off.
The old dear was over the moon as her family doesn't do much in the way of maintenance or help.

Hp
You need to wipe of any excess seal after with a cloth. This could be the cause of the patches

Cheers ,Steve. I used the 'dry roller' method. When the roller was out of seal, I went over the bits where they'd pooled a bit.

We get monthly training from our sealant suppliers and they say its absolutely essential to wipe of the excess in between coats.
Should be sweet once you get your next coat on. It's even more important to wipe off on the second coat. The reason is that the stone will be a lot less thirsty one second coat and therefore a much higher probability of pooling. The best thing to use is a cut up, old bed sheet
