i recently had a job to clear out surface drains in a large car park which were blocked with soil and general rubbish these drains had access points every 50 m and between these points the drain had a 1 inch slot on the surface so you could see into the drain but it was to small to get a rod in although a road pin did fit in the gap. what i need to know is if there is a machine that will clear these drains as a jetta is no good because of the gap and rods are no good because the blockages are solid. i was told a machine called a rooter what is this and were could i get one? thanks

Your already half way there, we do loads of these and you need the volume of water from a jetter to clean these thoroughly and quickly.
Set out a line of planks over the slotted drainage prior to high pressure water jetting the lines, this will maintain the pressure required within the channel and keep down the spray if done correctly.
You dont need 50mtr of planks just work steadily on 5/10mtr sections, we have in the past cut strips of visqueen and held down with bricks etc
Hope this helps
