Im looking for a bit of feedback from you chaps regarding my new venture. For the last 3 years I have been a partner and director of Beeches Transform. I had 1 partner and 4 full time employees. The stress of the responsibility for keeping all the lads busy has got too much for me lately.I feel like im working my balls off for everyone else' benefit. My wifes career has to take priority at the moment so I have a few childcare commitments also. As of the 1st of May im going it alone again. Ive got 2 90m2 drives in for my first 3 weeks so a decent start. I have been toying with some new names and and a focus for the business and I wanted to run the ideas on here. I've knocked the website up myself and am aware of a few spelling/grammar issues and I know the photos aren't great. All feedback posotive and negative is welcome as im still not 100% with the name.
cheers Chris

first thought was little green men
isnt all that green malarkey old hat now?
99 % of client wouldn't care if it was depleted uranium if it was a tenner a yard cheaper
looks a tidy idea but to me the green credentials should be used on a sub page
main page i would concentrate more on quality of work and trust
looks funky though

You might want to look at cross compatibility, because not all your potential customers will have up to the date web browsers and flash etc

I could tell there was something there when opening in Firefox, as no-script was asking me whether to allow scripts…but even when allowed there was nothing on display. And as for internet explorer, less said the better :D

Looks nice in Google chrome though :)

You don’t have to go daft and all the way back to IE6 browser compatibility, but ensuring that you cover most of the base of how others might visit…well, it stops it looking like a dead link to those that aren’t savvy enough to view the source code etc.

However, and in addition to that, if relying heavily on JavaScript or flash type content, you might want to look at a safety net for catching those that have it disabled / unavailable.

An example of that:

Here’s a mock up I did for LLL, but it’s not the mock up that’s important

LLL mock up

Disable scripts in your browser…if using firefox install an add-on such as NoScript

Now visit the LL mock up with scripts disabled and you will see how it catches you, by placing an overlay & warning…belt & braces allows you to create a plain info page that uses no form of scripting, and you can place a link to that plain page within the no-script warning box (thereby serving some content to those with scripts disabled that can’t enable them etc)

Let me know and I'll pass your number on if you want.

Thanks for the feedback. Im not particularly environmentally concious and will happily lay flags where ever thay come from. I just wanted something that might deter the timewasting folks who want something for nothing. I wanted to make myself look out of their budget but couldnt think of anything else other than the old stella line 'reassuringly expensive'. I agree about putting it as a sub page and not the focus of the business. I got £85 and £90 a m2 for my first 2 jobs which is pretty good going round here as the blocks Im using are only £8 m2. Ive Just got a lovely maintenance contract from a young couple who have bought a house with 1/4acre of very well stocked gardens loads of unusual plants so that will keep me busy for 1/2 a day once a fortnight and make a change from the Hard stuff.

The surname is Terry which conjures up images of racist footballers of chocolate oranges.. There are a few west yorkshire based names in the area.
