On this page titled "The Curse of Black Limestone":
http://www.pavingexpert.com/stonpv05.htm

The recommended product for restoring faded black limestone is Romex Colour Seal. I have Googled this product for ages and can't find it anywhere!

The romex website doesn't mention it either.

I am confused as there is mention of Romex Colour Enhancer in the list towards the top of page and under the photos showing the protection test results. But, in the photos for the colour restoration test, the test stones are labelled as Romex Colour Seal.

I wondered if anyone knew exactly what this "winning" product is and where I can buy some!

Helpfully the article lists stockists for the "winning" protection test products but sadly nothing about stockists for the restoration test products.

The second place product for colour restoration of black limestone was Weiss FT Plus. I found that product easily but it is a "wet look" product which I think will look bizarre in dry weather.

My garden path is desperate for some colour restoration so any help finding this mystery product would be most appreciated. Perhaps the product is no longer available, or has been renamed...

Cheers
Phil

Phil,

If you are talking about the patio photos in that thread (before & after photos), then that is a patio that I did, cleaned & resealed.
Product is Aqua- Mix Enrich N' Seal and you can get it from here, http://www.marblelife.co.uk
The guy you need to speak to is Kevin Martin and he will sort out what you need amount of sealer to square metres etc

Thanks for your reply R & A,

I actually meant the product called Romex Colour Seal in the thread. As hand-written on the limestone sets in the photos.

The patio you did does look amazing. Is the product you used to restore the colour a "wet look" or does it give a matt finish? It is hard to tell from the photo.

You said you cleaned and sealed. What is involved with the cleaning? I was going to scrub them and use Algon to get rid of the green and black mould (not used it yet though). I was hoping that would be sufficient to clean the stone before sealing...? I will make sure it is bone dry before sealing.

There have been some changes in the distribution of Romex products since the start of this year, but I’m told that Cowley Stone in that London is the best UK source for Colour Seal…..

Yes the sealer I used does have a sheen to it, customers choice. Re the algon, not used it myself, as it is a bit of a diy product for what we do, but if you look on the stain removal page on the main site, there is a chemical mix for cleaning berry stains etc, (one of our mix's) this will clean your limestone prior to sealing it, please follow the instructions to the letter. Thing to remember is NO ACID'S on Limestone unless you know what you are doing.

Algon - A year or more ago, I had a call from Lancashire Trading Standards about Algon, asking me to remove from the site any reference to the product. They weren't very clear about why, just repeated references to 'legal action', but I told them I didn't operate an Orwellian Ministry Of Truth trype of site where we constantly re-write history to satisfy current opinion.

Is it still available, then?
