when laying stone circles, does a semi-dry mix have to be compacted / whacked down. I know you lay the slabs straight onto a wet mix but not sure about the semi-dry.

It just needs to be firmed a touch, just with the bar as you screed it.

It shouldn't be compacted with a wacker. In my opinion
