Hi all, it's o.k I'm not banging on about my drive!

I noticed whilst navigating this site that there is an area where you may,if you wish, contribute to help support the operating cost's for running this site. I know it can be costly with software/functionality/server upgrades etc...

As I have used this site for many years and benefited from the enormous amount of content and the very useful forum (including the Craic!) I today made a contribution .

I know we live in hard times, but sacrificing a price of a pint or two and a packet of crisps surely would not break the bank (and help preserve the liver!) and I'm sure it would help the Govenor with maintaining the site and adding content.

To make it interesting and to maintain momentum , my proposal is that anyone that makes a donation (amount is irelevant and does not need to be disclosed) post 'Done' on the thread and lets see if we can break the record on the amount of post's/views on a single thread !

Dave

:) :)

o.k guys, hands up, fcuked up, intentions were good. Should have mentioned that the audience was to the man on the street that has benefited from the site(not the regulars or moderators...)

Tony, can't get a job . Give up work 11 yrs ago to look after my adopted son who has severe mental health problems (no violins, he is in a good place, well worth the sacrifice)

Working life, started out in the eighties (recession) no real education-work experience (youth opportunity scheme)etc.. just climbed the ladder with perseverence. Best time of my life working on the tools in telecoms, introduced double carriageway lids linked together (price work,1 man team,no mechanical lifters),back broke after 5 yrs working 7 days a week 18 hr days.. no option but to give it in and become a supervisor, climbed ladder and the rest is history......

sorry chaps intentions were good, no offence intended...

there is none taken I am sure :)
but most blokes on here are working longer and harder for less money than they were 3-4 years ago
plus diesel, gas leccy etc etc have all gone up
we had a big pow wow about it a while back and i think the consensus was to use google ads to help the upkeep of the site
also a lot of us bought tony's book direct from the gaffer, thereby giving him the price of a cuppa :)
the book is very good actually
cheers LLL :)

I agree
I have learnt more from the gaffer and blokes here than in 30 years on site listening to blokes who "have done it like this for 40 years"
wrongly of course
in my original post some 6 1/2 years ago my intention here was to help the misguided and misinformed, but also to learn
knowledge is power as they say

Bit confused! So would this make you (dab49) the gaffers partner then? ???
