Crushed bricks as sub-base for patio? - Are crushed bricks suitable & economic?

Patio flagstones (slabs), concrete flags, stone flags including yorkstone and imported flagstones.

Thanks for the advice LLL, and for clarification about MOT type 1 - somehow I thought it meant granite at 40 mm down to fines.
