Leasing vans?

After 2 new clutches and 3 new slave cylinders in 13 months i am fast losing the will to live and have had my van off the road for 2 weeks.

Incompetent mechanics aside it has made me consider leasing a van.

Does anyone here lease and what sort of money is it over year for a transit size van?

I'm just a small 1/2 man band (thats one or two rather than a half man) so is leasing more suited to larger companies with higher turnover?

Any general musing on the subject welcome.

Just buy new and sell it when the warranty has run out.

I like you suffered the same back in 1994 when I first started.
I brought my first van on lease, and have done this ever since
Its 100% tax deductable, as apposed to only 1/5 of buying outright, you get the warranty, and you can do lease hire, lease purchase, or contract lease, which means you can own it, or give it back.
You can also set your monthly payments, by having a deposit of your choice, and a balloon payment at the end.
You get reliability from a brand new vehicle, and you look a bit more proffessional for your customers.
I have used the same leasing guy for 20 years, and even after I have paid all payments, it still works out 3000 cheaper than a nissan dealer!

Try Lex, unless you seriously over run the mileage or servicing agreement they are pretty reasonable to deal with.

I've been looking into this recently, trying to find an LPG van. I get LPG for almost 1/3 of the price of diesel, it would pay for itself. Transit cost me £1300 5 months ago for new cylinder head and it has just happened again.

not sure how dan's leasing work exactly,but when we bought our cabstar back in 07 it just seemed better to buy it outright
a mate of mine at the time got involved in some lease hire scheme
anyway fast forward to now and if he wants to sell it he has to give them 25% of the money ,plus he had a balloon payment that crept up on him

not saying leasing is bad (its not for clued up people) but make sure you know the small print

Ovl are good better if your vat reg try to stick to 3year deal and no balloon 10000 per year and give it them back goggle them I have had 3 l200 with them vie lex you can sign write them to

Its a Renault traffic, it's an 07 and was 4 years old when i bought it. 90000 miles

Not exactly an old banger.

Just unlucky i think but its the hassle and cost of being without it as much as the expense of repairs thats making me consider leasing.

You can lease with servicing/tyres etc included in the monthly cost.

not sure about LLL's friend, but to own my van outright, i have to sell it to a third party, and buy it back from them, and pay the lease company 2%. joy is, i could sell it for 1000 if i want to

If i dont do this, there is an annual peppercorn rental to pay, as you are still technically leasing it

i sent the fella to holmwood leasing but he is a "know it all " type
he went with a firm that did really low monthly payments,500 quid down
but his balloon was 5k and his peppercorn rent is £250 a year
you know the sort
anyway his injectors have gone now so its costing him $$$ to get them sorted
it was a different time in 2007,booked up a year in advance ,lots of decent jobs around
next time will probably be some sort of lease arrangement

I cant understand how leasing can be cheaper, surely the lease company has to make a profit from you, owning it yourself means no one is making a profit on the use of your van, no?

Ps, NEVER buy french
