Hi boarders

I live in a 1890-1900 built Victorian semi in South East London. The rear of the house is covered by gravel before the lawn and the garden starts. I am getting the gravel surrounding the rear replaced by a patio. I am trying to locate the existing damp proof course to get the levels of the patio correct.

Despite trimming the render and digging a trial hole and several builders/contractors have failed to locate the damp proof course, either above or below the airbricks. Around 150mm below the airbricks, the entire rear extension appears to have a concrete footing that extends outwards around 300mm.

I want to ensure that the patio is laid at the correct level without compromising the damp proof course. Do you have any suggestions as to what further course of action should I take? One option suggested by the paving contractor is to put a linear drain all along the wall connected to the main surface water sewer via the existing rainwater gulley.

It is probably a safe position to assume 150mm below any doors. As for linear drains we cant comment without pics of the property, lie of the Land etc etc
