Evening chaps, firstly a long time stalker and am grateful of all the great information on here. Not sure if this is OK but couldn't find any members on the listing around this area. Essentially I require some hard landscaping doing and as I do not have either the time or contacts so hope its OK to post on here.
I need about 60m2 of patio slabs laying and adequate drainage for the back garden. Also need about 60m2 of old lawn removing and new turf relaying. The slabs are concrete wet cast Bradstone.
Then the front drive also needs doing, approx 40m2 of Marshalls Argent blocks then some suitable slabs which we are yet to chose.
Is there or could anyone please put me in contact with some professionals in the area?
I'd have liked to have tackled the back garden but being a new dad the Mrs is less than impressed with the idea of spending holidays and weekends digging......
Thanks
JK.

Evening chaps. Carberry, its in Aberdeen by Cults just a couple of miles out of the city centre. Yup, lots of snow around, I hear Inverurie (about 20 miles north) is bad but there's nowt in town so count ourselves lucky.
Its mad around this way, its pretty difficult to find good tradesmen which is crazy considering its a fairly recession proof due to the oil.

Well, looks as though nobody on here is either close enough or its too small a job. Just starting to get some quotes in for the whole job, landscaping, turfing and laying the patio. Also just had the first quote in for the front drive, it came in @8.5k for 60m2 where the blocks were 1k from Marshalls eBay store so 7.5k to prep and install!. This area could really benefit from some realistic and fair tradesmen. Cheers.

so the blocks are 1k
what are they sitting on?
were is the spoil going?
is the installer buying them from marshalls ebay store?
last time i bought argent they cost me £30 a metre so that is 2 grand for blocks
£8.5 k is a vaguely high price but i dont know the spec
it is not a rip off price by any means
LLL

The stock on their ebay store is normally discontinued or something slightly wrong with it. Contractors won't buy it because it will just sit in their yard gathering dust on the off chance that somebody likes that colour and needs whatever amount you bought.JuanKing wrote:I get what you're saying and I have no issue with paying fair going rate prices but thought that was upper end.
Yes
Sub base
Farm
No
No, 1k for 60m2.
Unrealistic to base your prices off of that. Need to go off what the contractor pays for it at merchants which as LLL says is probably £30 a square metre.

Thanks Carberry. Yes the blocks were end of the colour batch but thought that to be alright as I only needed 55m2 plus 10%. So let's take the cost of the blocks off. So would you gents say 6.5k for the laying materials (no blocks), prep, spoil removal and laying was fair for 60m2? The site has easy access but is on a slight incline. Apologies for asking dumb questions but the Mrs is going mental. If its fair perhaps I should give up petroleum systems geology and retrain!

It is a bit expensive. Hard to say for sure without seeing site, access, knowing the prices merchants charge in aberdeen but it does seem a little high.JuanKing wrote:Thanks Carberry.
