Hello I've been looking at this site for ages trying to build up the confidence to lay a 60m sandstone patio.
The type 1 is in and well wacked down but I want to confirm which bedding method is best for calibrated stone.
Ideally I would like to lay on a screed bed
Is this ok?
Do I compact it with the whacker?
Does it need a loose layer on top of the compacted stuff?
I've read that some use a slurry, could someone explain the process please?
I'm a competent DIYer and have built retaining walls, paths etc but don't want to chance making a balls up with my wife's expensive stone.
Many thanks

Whoa... Ok you dont compact anything in this case. Two options, i would personally lay a damp screed with rails and bond with a slurry of cement, water and sbr. Other method is to to use a wetter mix that wont slump, bed the stone to this.
With both methods a few taps with a good rubber hammer will bed the stone and allow you to fine tune the levels of each stone.
