I am on the committee of my local allotment association
when i joined it was a good craic and we all helped each other out

as usual with committees there is one nuisance ,in the building game he/she would be classed as a total no mark, who just stirs shite all the time

there total ethos is back biting and self interest
never a good word to say about anyone

anyway in the real world (our world) they would be sorted out quickly
but obviously i need to word this in a reasonable manner for the rest of the committee
not sure how to word it really
this person has already caused 3 long standing members to jack in and I cant stand by and see old boys of 40 years on the site leave because of it
any ideas of saying politely to faff off?
LLL ???
"what,you want paying today??"

Is it worth having a quiet word in the ears of the other committee members? State what you have noticed and that it is dowN to that person. See what the response is, if favorable put it in writing, if not walk away?!

You're a pedant whose total ethos is back biting and self interest and you never a good word to say about anyone. 3 long standing members have quit because of you. Everyone else is here for the good of the allotments. You are only here for yourself.
You are the weakest link. Goodbye.

No need to be polite, the guy is obviously a dick who is making everyones lives hell. Tell it how it is but hold off on the swearing so you sound professional.

In my experience it's best to call these things out fully, but to avoid an initial all out battle and look like you are just ranting I would take some time to list examples of incidents and what effect they have created and back it up with the facts.

I would then raise this in a meeting saying I have concerns based on xyz which has created ill feeling and is eroding the spirit of the group. Keeping calm of course.

It's easy to find whats wrong but few people offer up suggestions for a solution, if you can provide some ideas for a solution then it creates a discussion point for the other members and it helps keep the momentum up in the meeting to move past a difficult subject.

By getting it out on the table rather than trying the subtle diplomatic approach then it has to be dealt with one way or another.

By keeping a rational head, dealing only in facts in a businless like manner you will add credability to a difficult conversation.

Hopefully common sense will prevail and the situation gets resolved, if not then at least you tried and the Pedant has nowhere to hide.
I'm a pessimist, by that I mean an optimist with experience.

1. Start by making direct eye contact
2. Move on to pouting your lips
3. Gently rub yourself against him
4. Tell him you like older men
5. Ask him if he wants to bum!

That will do the trick

LLL, I've sort of known you for a few years now, and you've struck me as "true Blue". Your word is your honour and you say what you mean. Be honest and up front. Speak plainly and clearly, and speak for the guys who could'nt/would'nt. In the end you will take pride in being counted!

Similar thing with my local allotments. I believe his allotment was given a once over one night, weedkiller in his water butt, that sort of thing. Drastic I know, but it did the trick

Personally I would contact the members who have left and ask to meet them and ask them why they have left.

If its all down to this one guy I would call a meeting and explain your findings and see if the rest of the committee stand with you or him.

I'm sure you will get this sorted tony and I hope you carry on enjoying your allotment

You would be surprised how some people listen to those types. In all walks of life we come up against people like that, you can't fight for everyone. You need to know how many of the allotmenties would back you because you can guarantee it will be you who will be classed as the militant troublemaker. Some people take on a mightier than thou attitude and are best sent to Coventry, ignored and avoided. Maybe you should ask him out for a drink, ask him why he is like he is, could be something is lacking in his life, or is past could of made him the way he is. Best to avoid being the spokesman of the group. I have joined numerous clubs, groups etc in the past and found there to always be one, or two 'pedants', so i just left. You'll never beat them and it will just make you angry. Best to ignore them LLL.

find one or two more to back you up.
all of ye:
no washing for 2 weeks
strict diet of beans
pour smelly wine over your head.
nothing like a good smell to encourage people to leave.

I remember as a teenager being in an important meeting over allocations of money for clubs and societies in college, was dying from the night before. I was under severe pressure, sweating mad, digging a deeper hole for myself, dropped one SBD (silent but deadly), meeting canceled, no one was sure who did it.
Some people at the meeting refused to come back ever again.

You could have a word with he/she first to see if you can sort anything out.

If that fails I'd have individual chats with the rest of them. Honesty is the best policy here me thinks.

I'm sure you'll get people onside.

Failing that, you could attempt the come ons outlined above
