Not sure if I’ve got brain freeze or just being lazy, but I can't seem to work out the No of skips I might need.
The job is to relay 100M2 of paving (great) looking to excavate 150mm, 100mm Mot 40mm bed. Need to drop it 10mm it’s been laid slightly above DPC. Unfortunately a grab lorry is not an option so skips it is. Any help gratefully received.

100x0.15 = 15 cu metres then you need to know what it is you are digging out clay would be 21 tons dry or 30 odd wet so 4 x 8 yard skips.
Sounds like you need to get a few bigger hook lift skips or groundworkers who can load their wagon directly or with hi tip save on skips

Why not use a company that does skips and grabs, then you can have 2 skips dropped off. You then fill these, the company comes and grabs the stuff out, you refill and again gets grabbed, will/should be much cheaper!

by my estimation you'll need 10 skips, because you need to excavate 300mm, finish height should be 150mm "BELOW" DPC, not level with as you post suggests.

Some times we have had jobs where we have to dump the muck in skips for them to grab due to it being on a public verge and often the local parish council kicking up a fuss if we are seen to just be putting boards down.lutonlagerlout wrote:kieran
if the waste is grabbable why use a skip at all?
grabs are around £200 mark and they take 12 yds
skips are £150 and only take 6 yds
so grabs all the way if the access is right
LLL
So thought if its bad access for the grab lorry do something similar, you get 2 skips dropped and use them more like storage bins.
