I'm getting a new front door, frame and intercome courtesty of Lothian and Borders finest. From what I can gather I had 6 cops in my flat, one bright spark locked the deadbolt with the keys, took all the keys off the keyring and hung them up. They spent 30 minutes trying to figure out how to get out. 2 minutes before I showed up they kicked my door in, burst the door, frame and intercom.

The flat is ~100 years old, high ceilings, large doors etc I was going to get a new timber door fitted (old one is solid timber) just wondering if that is the best choice?

I have had 2 doors go in
both wrongly
one for an armed robbery on which a car I had sold 6 months earlier had been used ,and the other one was for perverting the course of justice which was unfounded.
they pay, but they drag their heels over it
composite is the way forward now
cheers LLL
"what,you want paying today??"

I wish. Then I would be minted and wouldn't need them to pay for a door

My mum was at my flat, I was at my girlfriends place. She was in an 'accident' at 10pm, there was no damage done to either vehicle . Admitted fault, left details then the 2 guys in the other car started getting abusive so she took off. Phoned police, reported accident and they sent 6 officers around to arrest her.
For whatever reason some idiot locked my front door from the inside, couldn't have been my Mum as she was cuffed and I have the only other set of keys. They radio for backup and 2 more plods got sent round so I had 8 of them there scratching their heads before one of them decided to boot my door in

Was released without charge at 1:30 in the morning, bruises all over arms where cops had grabbed her. Off to lawyers tomorrow for some legal advice.

Latest in the saga... the joiners that showed up to replace the door have tried to fob me off with a much lighter plain door that is just a block of wood. The door I had was a very heavy period door, they also butchered it when taking off the hinges so it cannot be repaired.

The joiners tried to justify it saying the old door is just a softwood and the new door is a hardwood, his face dropped when he realised I knew the difference between a hardwood and softwood and that it doesn't necessarily mean that a hardwood is hard (balsa wood is a very soft hardwood) and that a softwood is soft (fir is a hard softwood)

Oh dear I don't understand why they don't just replace like for like... They are wasting your time and there own trying to fob you of, give them one last chance to do it right or get your own contractor in to do it and pass the bill on.

Tell them you want it put right quick and tell them your plans in writing that way there is no miss understanding in the future.

Hope you get it sorted quick
