I am considering sorting my back garden out as it is on a steep slope. Basically I need a 3-4ft high retaining wall running for 18 metres. I would like to know what depth/width foundations i need and if I require a a blocked wall before I build the stone wall with 6 inch wide sandstone. Many thanks

ill say it before some one else does, you should get a structural engineer to design it for you

with out looking at the site, knowing the loadings, the strata, the rain fall etc no one here can give you a definite answer but yes you are going to need a block laid flat wall with drainage behind and/or weep holes and a wide spread footing
