Has anyone got experience of using Stonevalley imported stone?

Customer of mine has got their brochure, and their website www.stonevalley.co.uk states paving at £12 per sq m, very cheap, but is it therefore cheap and nasty? I expect there has to be a catch for it to be so cheap, i.e. poor quality?

He had already chosen Stonemarket Marketstone multi sand, but that's about twice as expensive, so not unreasonably he's asking if Stonevalley is any good.

Searched the forum but found no reference, and Stonevalley does not appear on the Suppliers page.

I know of them, but I don't know their stock and I haven't visited their premises. 12 quid is about as cheap as it goes, and I'd be extra cautious - you do tend to get what you pay for.

Comparison with Stonemarket's products is a little unfair, as Stonemarket are part of a massive national company that has an advertising and promotion budget that's probably bigger than Stonevalley's annual turnover. Their products are backed by their good name and ypou do have to pay a premium for that. A fairer comparison would be with someone like Midland Slate & Tile or Stonescape - they are independent suppliers that don't go in for mass advertising but do supply quality product at a reasonable price.

Finally, Stonevalley are not on the suppliers page because they haven't asked. Mind you, simply asking is no guarantee of acceptance for a listing: there are so many importers that I won't accept any applications from companies unless they can prove they have stock on the ground in Ireland or Britain. I get around 12-18 requests each week from wannabe importers, often based in India or Eastern Europe, who don't actually have any premises or stock over here, but want what is, in effect, a free ad on my website as a way of promoting their dubious business.

I had a request this morning from one such company that gave its address as 'side of petrol pump, XX Village, India' !!

Been laying Stone Valley slabs today. Raj Green bought through one of our regular suppliers, but stone valley name on crates.
To be honest this is the worst batch of indian flags we have had to date, and we lay quite a bit.
Not fair to judge just on one lot, but doubt I'll be using it again without inspecting the actual stone first.
Ability.
