what about block paving then for your car park?

i think bitmac is going to be your best bet, your prep cost are going to be the same then its just the wearing course be it concrete, bitmac or the gravel

bitmac will be the easiest to lay and require the least manitenace

look at tarmac bredon gravel about £20 a ton rd here ( its quarried not far from here) transport cost are going to bump that up massively, if you break it up with a few nice features etc will look nice

If it's quarried near you, Gi, it's not Breedon. It's probably a generic limestone dust, but Breedon is a very specific quarry.

The 'self-binding gravel' referred to by the OP is pricey at 60 quid per tonne, unless it's a branded product, such as Breedon, Raisby, Coxwell or Cedec, but with a coverage of around 20m² per tonne, 3 quid a square metre is helluva lot cheaper than blacktop.

breedon said that if i collected it would still be £60 per ton. if they delivered to scotland it would be £99 per ton!
block paving is more expensive than the tarmac, i am looking to use the self binding gravel in the parking bays and the tarmac on the "road areas"

i dotn think it covers 20m2 per ton. breedon state its about 8m2 at 50mm. at the £99 per ton they are quoting me it works out at £12m2.
they are cheaper options available locally, that is why i wanted to check the spec. it appears to be 10mm to dust. i will try to get a sample and compact it to see if its any good.

unfortunately i think the setting out costs are likely to increase substantially because i think i will have to lay an edger for both the tarmac and the gravel.

it would certainly be easier to use tarmac for the whole lot unless the gravel is a lot cheaper.
