calibrated are generally 22-25mm thick
uncalibrated are 20-45 mm thick

Calibration is good for everybody. It makes transport more efficient and cheaper. Arguably it is also quicker to lay. Agree with Tony though, if you know what you are doing then it wont matter a jot to a competent installer and it does not have any effect on how a finished patio will look. I think the majority of stone available these days is calibrated, variable thickness stone is a dying breed

Do not listen to people who think they know it all, they are just that, know-it-alls. Easier to lay calibrated and way faster but no problem laying either. Your friend probably had a yarn spun to them by an expensive contractor trying to justify a higher price than others.

I agree that uncalibrated takes a fraction longer to lay but is not a big deal.

It may be the weight they dislike rather than just being fussy. A 900x600 kandla grey at 45mm is verging on being unmanageable for one person.

This is getting to be seriously weird! It's as though queries answered by pages under construction are being deliberately planted here! One of the other pages I have on the verge of being published is....calibrated flagstones!

Some of the Brew Cabin Irregulars have been very kind in donating photies. I'm trying to get a photie or video of a stripping mill machine, and I've a bit more text to write, but it should be up-and-running by the end of this month.
