why do you need a bigger van michael?
a lot of lads swear by ford transit connects for an intermediate size van
you can get a mixer barrow and tools in the back and they are ok on fuel
fence panels they fall down on

well if its not Giles slagging off one vehicle I own on one thread its someone else slagging off my merc van on another :p

I have had merc sprinter's medium wheelbase high roof (yep you can stand upright in the back) for the last 7 years and they are the best van's on the road as far as I am concerned

youve got teh x6 i did mention that

sprinters are the best vans going imho or the vw copy, yeah teh pre 05 ones were rusters but ive taken them all over europe with bands, we had one we used for 3 months with 6 of us that had 380k on the clock, done 105 in one as well, we had a brand new high cube one in germany had 549km on it when we got it, air seats for driver and passenger 6 speed was a beauty to drive.

new transits are great as well got a small new transit from ford hire to go form sheffield to vaida vale drop an amp off and back to sheffield did it in 5 hours. great on the motorway, my mates just bought a sprinter to make into a camper van.

weve got our old lt35 back which was our lettered up comapny van a few years ago, ran it for 10 years then plaster had it, hes ruined it but weve got in back for £400 to have around the yard, as has been said lots of rust on it now, and blowing oil

Toyota hiace. Crude & primitive but very tough and reliable. Robust paintwork so long as no damage has been done. 105bhp versions better on fuel - around 35mpg. Facelifted in 06/07 i think. Rear wheel drive if you're into that.

i just want a bit more space for my tools most of the time ive got 2 hege cutters blower strimmer mower long reach hedge cutrter mower rakes hoes brush spade fork shovel can of petrol can of 2stroke mix and a fair few smaller tools in there and it gets very untidy very fast also would be handy to have 3 seats in the front the dispatch has 3 but its to snug and you cant change gear that easy :laugh:

i know dan detests fords ,but my chippy had a navarra for 2 years and had nothing but trouble with it and nissan were very unhelpful
he has had a 10k transit for 2 years and no complaints yet
the biggest problem for me with the transits i had (3 of) was they were a constant target for thieves
biggest dog i ever had was a peugot pick up

First bit of trouble I've had with my Navara is just now at 80k, keeps going in to limp mode. Phoned Nissan they want £1800 :laugh:
Looked about on owners club forum and the problem is the suction control valve which I can pick up for £140 and fit myself.

Running a 55 Transit that's done ~90k now, it gets run about a lot and I've not really had any bother. The most amount of grief I get is from the side lights at the back, they keep popping out which pisses off traffic cops (get pulled over every 4-6 weeks) and think ford want £70 or something silly for them.

2nd clutch about to go in my navara at 120k well 2nd replacement clutch so 3rd in total

10k ago i did both front wheel bearing, both cv joint, 3rd set of front disks and about 12th set of pads

My L200 was given the last rites yesterday afternoon. Engine completely firked beyond repair, due in no small part to the eejits who had allegedly serviced it over recent years but actually hadn't done much more than change the oil.

Driving a hire car Astra at the mo'. Not quite as embarrassing as SmartArse Car or a Nissan Micra, but not bloody far off! Need to strat trawling through AutoTrader to find summat wheelbarrow-capable but cheap to run.

Nearly everyone I know who has run a Navara has become very friendly with their local repair workshop! All things Japanese aren't as reliable as they first appear!

Seems with jap stuff you have to go through dealers for various parts making it expensive. With VW group vehicles you seem to have a massive range of parts available from alternative sources. Everything from cheap & crap to original equipment quality at sensible prices.
Go for a VW T5 or a cared for T4. Research DMF's on the T5 though.

Anyone know anything about VW Tiguans - not even sure if I've got the name/spelling right!

Been offered one at a reasonable price but I know less than buggerall about them. It's black, has 4 wheels, 50,000 miles and can fit a barrow in the back, just.

Thanks Al. My wannabe son-in-law says it a cross between a Golf and a Toerag, so it sounds interesting. Hoping to see it for real this weekend.

Also looking at a QuashQuai or summat. It's bigger; it does 30 to the gallon; you can get a barrow in the back; but it's frigging orange!

i had a new one on hire not long ago you would have to drop all the back seats down to get barrow in they do split so still get infant seat in back
