Some of you will have the latest news but for those of you who haven't, yesterday it was announced that the work on Saturday market will be rephased, with the setts being the last item on the programme. This is to allow for further consultation. A chink of light and a huge relief to those of us who were contemplating camping out in the middle of winter!
It's wonderful that ERYC are prepared to take stock and equally wonderful that this town rallied to it's own defence. We can allow ourselves a moment of rosy optimism, but not complacency and hope for good news before long......just imagine!

When we were in greece, me and my wife went for morning coffee to see what the place would be like for lunch. i had tea and my wife had a decaff coffee. Our waiter was a macho type twat. Obviously taking the piss with his mates in their language. When it came to the bill he said out loud to the great amusement of all his pals, ''coffee no coffee'' ( meaning the decaff ) all his pals roared. On the way out i waved a big note in his face and said ''tip no tip.'' His pals laughed even louder and macho man was angry and we nearly came to blows.Lunchtime and next morning we sat in a place next door and every chance i got i held up a note and mouthed the words ''coffee no coffee,'' ''tip no tip,'' Wound him up bad. Don't f*** with the brits

Latest update seems to suggest a sort-of victory.....
Writing this with rather blurry vision, but many of you will have heard (and probably reacted in the same way), that the setts/ Yorkstone pavements, kerbs and gullies in Saturday market will be retained as part of the ERYC's revised scheme for Saturday Market. We have to be thankful that unlike so many councils in this country, ERYC listened to it's residents and reacted appropriately. Beverley is a wonderful town and our campaign has shown it has some wonderful people living in it; a true community effort. Let's hope that with goodwill on all sides the future for the town as a whole, will be decided in the same co-operative spirit and that it will evolve into the vibrant, place we all want it to be, without losing sight of the things that made it "One of the most beautiful towns in England".
