I think that pretty much any drive done really well will outlast me. For me it's the budget that is stopping me getting what I want. I do however really appreciate all the advice and have already learnt a lot.

Pattern imprinted concrete is a huge minefield in this country, most of it is crap.

When concrete is the most robust paving material to date. Out performing everything else by a country mile. Of course if dangerous dan the digger man gets his hands on it, it ain't gonna go well, but that can be said for every type of paving product on the market.

haha, the sett road upto our farm would argue with that it was laid when the mill at the bottom of the hill was built in 1790 and is as it was then and get, everything from tracked 16 ton machines to 40 ton trucks and tractors up it.

we lay 300-500m3 of concrete a year but thats made me chuckle

in fairness to jay at rock ,same with simeon , obviously manafacturers and installers will promote their own specialty to some extent

I wanted to do a small area in resin bonded gravel, i looked at sureset's site and they wanted £50 per metre just for the resin and gravel
I can buy very nice flags for that!!!

I would be interested to see any recent installations you have done Jay, as IMHO concrete finishing is an undervalued trade

As Cookie says, stone is tried and tested. There are Roman roads thousands of years old still in use today, that's robust enough for me :laugh:

As for the PIC comment, I haven't seen a well done PIC driveway in this country, that isn't to say there aren't good examples just that the industry is lagging in this country. The first driveway I laid was PIC in Australia, still looks good 15 years later.
