Generally speaking I agree. I used it myself for years, in preference to MS WORD. It's good, but when it was taken over by Oracle most of the developers had some sort of issue with them and branched out to form the OpenDocumentFoundation...
the result is a new Office suite, "LibreOffice".
For all practical purposes it's the same as OpenOffice... but the development is continuing.
In my experience it's the best by a mile for compatibility with Microsoft Office. It's the only onefor example, (as far as I know), that can cope with Office Macros at all.
