I'm really not sure is the honest answer.

The bloke that was supposed to have been driving the project has, I found out a couple of weeks back, moved on to pastures new, but no-one bothered to tell me until I got a call from the new guy who readily admits he knows sweet FA about paving!!!

Assuming they'll wander back in to work on Wednesday, I'll give them a call and see if I can find out anything.

I've emailed them with a formal request for a statement. As soon as I get a reply, I'll post it here.....

Right: I had a phone call from the manufacturer in question yesterday and they apologise if anyone thinks they've been led up a particularly well-paved garden path but their intentions are honourable and all will be revealed in the fullness of time.

The current state of play is that the paving is very definitely now in production on a full scale rather than on the testing-it-out scale under which they had been operating over the autumn.

The new-ish project leader assures me that everyone on the list will be contacted over the next 2-3 months to give them further detail of the actual product and also to see how both manufacturer and contractor can assist one another. He stresses that this should not in any way be seen as an 'approved' list, not just yet, anyway. It is, and always was, just a list of the contractors *I* think might be suitable in that they have the right skill set and the right attitude to running a successful paving business, whether they are residential or civils contractors.

Assuming production continues without major problems (they *are* working with a variable natural product) and that their committments to the other, more well-established parts of the business don't drag them away, there should be a sort-of launch in late Spring.

They've promised to keep me updated, so as and when I learn anything, I'll post it here. I did try to persuade the team leader to post direct to the Brew Cabin, even if it meant using a nom-de-net, but I sense he isn't overly confident in his forum skills and, for the moment at least, he prefers to leave me to do the talking.

So: there you have it. The project goes on - it's taking longer than anyone would have liked - it *will* make itself more widely known come late spring. You now know almost as much as me. :D

Here's a tip - you don't need to hit the keys quite as hard as you do a sett.

Oh, and it helps if you put down the lump hammer when typing and use your fingers instead! :p

Has the snow got to York yet?
