Baggeridge clay pavers

I went in to a local merchant to get some buckingham brindles for a job and was informed that baggeridge no longer make these particular pavers?
the merchant now stocks blockley pavers those queer size 1 colour jobbies
can anyone confirm if this is true or am i just being fobbed off?

ps for the same job I need around 10 M2 of stonemarket millstone
when they told me the price i nearly fainted
£42 +vat per metre
its an out of the way area and the client just wants it filled in to stop the cats messing there,I was thinking a double border of clays,and then some kind of infill
£500 for 10 m2 of slabs kind of knocks the bollox out of the job this close to xmas

The walling is even worse. Only comes in there project packs, it is only faced on one side so has to be a double skin wall. They want a small fortune for splitting a pack.

No idea about the pavers I'm afraid.

Baggeridge have well and truly lost the plot. Since being bought out by Weinerberger there seems to have been a corporate decision to trash the paver business they inherited.

I had lunch a couple of weeks ago with the guy who used to run their paver division and although he was exceptionally diplomatic and discreet, it was bloody obvious that he felt aggreived by what had happened at the company. He was the only paving guy in that business, but now his remit is shared amongst faceless entities more accustomed to selling facings and with no feeling or effective knowledge of the paving trade. Meanwhile, his skills have been snapped up by another source and he's heading up their hard landscape division.

So, the bulk of the pavers now being flogged without feeling by Baggeridge are imports from Germany and Holland, which although they are attractive, are not *native* colours, not the sort of hues and tones we are used to seeing in British clay pavers. What was once a characteristic feature of particularly English and Welsh towns (less so in Scotland and almost non-existent in Ireland for geological reasons) will now be replaced by Chinese granite or European clay, and the homologisation of our culture moves on another notch.
