Hi, I'm new to this and impressed by what I've seen so far so here goes: I've read one of the threads on european style fan paving with clay cobbles/blocks and am looking to lay this paving style in a large patio area and pathways around my house. I first noticed this paving style in the south of italy where it was grey in colour and hope I can obtain the required product in this colour. My question though is this: On the paving I'm refering to each of the header rows appeared to be marble/travertine blocks or something like this and created a fantastic fish-scale type effect. Do you know of, or have an idea of, a product I could use to duplicate this design?? Thanks in advance. A DiIorio

There's all sorts of setts and cubes out there that can be used. Granite, basalt, porphyry, limestone, sandstone, gritstone. You should have non trouble getting hold of silver-grey Chinese granite in cubes or setts, and then it's simply a matter of chooosing a contrast. I find the black basalt or dark-grey granite cubes work exceptionally well as terminal courses, but you might decide that, say, the porphyry is more to your taste.
