Bought 2 x clearance multi packs of sandstone from Travis Perkins. They were labelled as Marshalls but a member of staff said something about the slabs having come from 'the same quarry that Marshalls uses'.
Several slabs arrived broken at the corners. I carried one of the broken ones to the back of the garden (they are not very heavy), held it upright and plopped it down onto the earth to get it out of the way. It then broke into 3 pieces. Some bits flaked off. The flaked bits had more the texture of pumice than stone.
I'm now wondering whether these slabs are Marshalls, or simply rejects from the quarry
Any advice?

Thanks for your replies. I was hesitant to buy from the Internet, and did not have the budget for expensive landscaping in the back garden. I thought that Marshalls special offer slabs would be an assurance of basic quality.
TP said that they were reduced because the pallets had been sittling around the yard for awhile. The original price was said to be £450 for 12 sq m, so not that cheap.
They have now said that they will replace any cracked or broken slabs
