Hi there,
just moved into a new house and the patio slabs are in poor condition. I have given them a good clean with a power washer which got rid of all the dirt but the slabs are still in bad condition.
It looks as though the slabs are disintegrating, maybe a protective layer has been removed with bad weather or something.
wanted to know what has caused the problem with the slabs and if there is anything i can do to give them a more uniform colour or if I just have to replace the slabs.
I have attached an image of one of the slabs.(i think the darker patches are the original slab colour)
thanks for any help!!

hope this helps.
I dont think that the slabs are upside down as there is only pimples on the top side and a very rough service underneath the slabs. If I scratch the darker colour with a screw driver I can see that the lighter colour is revealed but I think that the darker colour is the correct colour. the lighter service is more rough and sandlike.
thanks again

They do look like they're upside down but given how badly laid they are that's the least of your worries. Looking at the first picture I'd say they were the right way up because the bottom edge is very rough like the flag underside edge should be I'd say the flags are just poor quality and are unlikely to come good with time so long term a new patio is probably on the cards.
Can't see it from my house
