Hi there
This site is great by the way for a driveway virgin like myself.
Having intended to block pave my own 48m2 driveway, time constraints mean I will now have to turn the job over to the professionals. I want to buy and supply my own pavers but am finding the costs pretty steep and wondered whether I was missing some particular makes. I'm after a rumbled, rustic type stone eg Tobermore Tegula but seem unable to get anything for less than £20m2 inc vat with most (incl Tobermore Tegula) coming in around £26m2. Also, the lowest quote from a contractor I have had so far (3 quotes, 2 to come) works out at over £75m2 and that was with cheaper stones at £11m2! I know I'm based in Surrey on the Surrey/Hampshire border so the contractors will charge more than others further northwards but still find this scarily expensive. Unfortunately living in Surrey doesn't automatically mean we're all loaded!
Thanks for your advice in advance

Tobermore Tegula are more expensive in Lower Britain because they are shipped in up here in the civilised part of the country and then hauled all the way down there via the comedy motorway network. They're a lot less than the price you've been quoted if you live anywhere near the M62 corridor.

However, the tumbled blocks that are readily available down there should be obtainable for around 14 quid + VAT (16.50 roughly) to trade buyers. You may have been quoted a non-trade price.

75 quid per m² for tumbled blockwork in Lower Britain is not too bad a price. A tad more expensive than the rest of the country, but prices of 90-125 quid per metre are not unusual in your part of the world, especially for a project of less than 60m².
