And in a few weeks we will be off to sunny South Devon to rip out and replace 100m or so of these crap Safeticurbs and replace with some nice S100 Aco channels with F900 ductile gratings. Phase 2 will be to plane off the industrial estate (3000m2) and resurface, completing the project.

There are comments made on this site that are not intended to be offensive,on the contrary, they are meant as a craic. If anything i say causes offence then i apologise wholeheartedly. On the other hand there are a few comments made that are intended to cause offence, once that happens then the person posting them becomes ( as the C S w****** say ) fair game. I, as many other cabiners no doubt do, find it hard to read every post and comment due to long working hours, travelling and, hopefully sometimes......sleep. Some of you are proud of your work and how it is carried out, unsafely. I on the other hand am proud that i am in a position to carry out my work safely. I appreciate that you have a hard job and safety comes at a price but working unsafely comes at a price to, the worse case scenario being death. Carry on posting and commenting, we all learn from it, it is what the site is all about. :)

indeed.
I think the only reason many of us don't post pictues of work in progress is that we just forget and don;t have the camera handy
I hope to take some this week of a smallish job
Client wants a summerhouse base, 6" thick reinforced concrete, then he wants to lay injun stone on top (inc a circle), then the summerhouse sits on top of all that.
Why the paving? he says that when he ever takes the summerhouse down the paving will look better than concrete!
Not sure how the falls for drianage will work as its supposed to be a level base!

as long as the base sits above the lawn/garden of whatever water wont be a problem, water won't lay on a leval surface unless you put a wall around it..... :D MSH :)

give peas a chance
no one on here wants a man to die for a few quid
but to get 100% safety is impossible
here bad news
and here more really bad news
and even worse news
http://www.constructionenquirer.com/2011....ay-site
i appreciate with massive firms it is very hard to eliminate all risk
but little firms like me are doing all we can
I insist on PPE when using powertools = no exceptions
but on big big construction jobs there i always an element of danger,of course it is there on smaller jobs but the risk is mitigated by less men with more knowledge
the BC would be a poorer place without Giles and Sean so please kiss and make up

If I posted photos of work Ive done in the past, and yes you will pick faults! as you wouldnt believe the things we were asked to do! if my ex boss saw them and saw that everyone slated them could I get into trouble?

I think if pictures are taken from a public spot I.E> the pavemnet they cant say anything
but you need permission to take pictures on private land
I may be wrong though
the reality is I have had maybe 3 clients in 10 years who have asked for total privacy and you respect that

I always ask if I can use clients' work on our website etc - most people if not all are over the moon and are happy to do so.

We've done quite a few projects on Wentworth and they never allow pictures. Shame really because they are always the best projects
