Hello,
I'm getting to the end of designing my indian stone patio, and I am now after advice on creating a 5inch high x 6 feet wide (patio doors) x 3 feet deep step.
As I''m starting from a "blank sheet", is it best to lay the patio 1st (using sub-base etc taken from this site) then build the step on top of that using a 1 grey engineering brick for the perimeter which is then filled with C20 concrete, then topped with 3 (2ft x 3ft) stone flags
or, 1st build a 2 brick high perimeter wall sat on its own strip foundation, fill this with concrete and then flag on top, then build the rest of the patio around that
or, create an 8inch former and fill it with C20 concrete.
Once it is dry, top with 3 flags and face it with flag pieces to mask the concrete (bit like stone cladding) then build the rest of the patio around that.
Thanks
Creating patio step

Sounds like you have been doing your homework. You should really put your bricks in before you build your patio. I dont think it matters either way if you face the brickwork before or after the patio is laid, but if you face it first it might save you time on cutting as you can face with full sized pieces of either 600x300 or 560x275
