Hi guys
I am a complete novice at most things DIY but I want to do some of this myself one I cant really afford to be paying people and two to give the satisfaction of saying "I done that"
anyway I have a concrete pre fab garage with a concrete floor that is rough I want to smoth the floor and paint it so I was wondering what I can use to do this
I am looking to paint the floor once this is done so my question would be what product to use on the concrete base that is down I have read about self leveling compunds and I was thinking this is the way to go but I dont think that my floor has any form of damp proofing put in so would my leveling compound need to have this as I dont want it come away in the future
I am planing on painting the floor with an epoxy paint as well

If theres no damp membrane then anything you do to seal the floor will trap any damp and deteriorate in time. If there is a damp course your next issue is with the quality of the slab itself, if its solid then a really good clean and FLC should do the trick.

thanks for the quick reply
I am unsure if there is a damp proof membrane (I know this probably sems really stupid but this is all new to me)is there anyway I can check?
the floor is in good condition not breaking away any where although very rough
can I ask what FLC is?
