I'm not a builder, which is why im here :-)

( i could tell you what i do, but you'd call me names)

Anyway, broxburn is a mighty fine guess, either that or an Ip lookup :-)

Type1 ordered, sand ordered, whacker is here, shale kind of compressed, just having a bite, then i'll screed the front so its level with the natural run, and whack the crap out of it. MIght even have a beer whilst doing so.

Irata ( rope access) tech. Im the guy they call when builders get too high up on the ladders to do their job.

curious is good, as i have lots of questions.

Compacted this shale crap. didn't seem to work. Then i sprayed it with a good bit of water, and had another Go. Made a right mess, buy its fecking solid now. I presume thats a very good thing ?

No IP lookup, not a mod. I just know the lothians well :D

If your sub base is solid it's a good thing.

i was gobsmacked at how much difference adding a little water to the area made. It was roasting today, and the dust was pretty bad. shale is crappy stuff. Its solid now though, i can jump on it an not leave a dent.

i've got a fall to cover up with the type one, so it'll be 75mm on one side ( nearest the house, which needs the most drainage) and 50mm on the other ( which will see hardly any traffic). I'll run the plate over it a few times, and get it level enough to lay the 50-60mm of dampish mortar on.

Path is a pain, but nothing i can't work around.

Live in newhaven, yard is in millerhill. I'm usually out broxburn way once a week.
No beer for me though, don't drink alcohol, tea, coffee, soft drinks. I confuse a lot of well meaning clients
