Budget pavers, are they ok for a non heavy trafic back yard, and how best to point them? whats good to use for spacers?

Very budget flags, but ideal for a 'utility area' where there's no vehicular traffic. I think they're best pointed with mortar but I know of projects where they've been sand jointed or brushed-in with a dry mix of sand and cement and they've worked out fine.
