One of the articles clears up a question raised a few months ago about the use of trailers and the need for operator licences - seems like we are exempt.

An operation may be classified as hire or reward by virtue of the fact that other peoples’ goods are being transported. However, if delivery of those goods are not the primary activity, then the operation is still exempt.
So landscape gardeners, for example – who transport plants that are not the property of the landscape gardening business – are still exempt because their primary activity is landscape gardening, not transport.

Seems it is, with a little research its easy for the bloke pullin a small trailer to find out what the craic is..wouldnt want to run wagons though!!

Im yet to be pulled *touches the kitchen work top* :p

i load steel on to lorries all day long and loads of them dont even use a ratchet and strap to secure it,

and yes we have had lorries return to us with a police escort to be reloaded when its overhanging the side of the lorry by half a metre.... crazy!!

i hope this gets to some of the drivers who do think a curtain will stop 27 tonne of metal from moving out the side of the wagon...
