Has anyone used a mortar gun for pointing work? not the pressure type, the fill yer own type. I have a full house to repoint, and thought about getting one to speed the process up a bit. They'll be 20mm deep joints. What kind of coverage a day can you get with em?
I imagine you have to get the mix pretty wet to go through the gun, and be canny not to get gobo all over the faces.
What's yer opinion, are they worth utilizing or shall i just stick to the old hawk and trowel?
Cheers
Vic

I'm not a fan, although that may be because the hawk'n'trowel method works for me. I;d be interested to hear if brickies or pointing contractors rate them.
Versions of pointing guns are being pushed for paving works, too, and the prices mentioned scare the bejaysus out of me!

Pain in the rear end and use far too much muck! Most of it gets onto the ground as you clear up the joint with the trowel. As Tony says, use the hawk and trowel method, loads easier and far more cost effective.
Hope that helps and all the best...............Riggers
