back to the origonal qestion, i would look at around universitys in the midlands area upwards this is quite a good area, for a stable income. my brother lives in ifeland (county Meath) and says its expensive since going into the euro everything just went up..
Also he says their is quite a lot of housing estates that the houses are new buids and are just stood empty..
good luck with what ever you decide to do, and please be very carful when buying abroad as you do hear some horrer stories.

Thanks guys. As Carberry said, the Greeks 'just' skimmed into Euro membership by fiddling the figures, then, got the same credit rating and interest rates as Germany. Reemed it till it broke the country and went cap in hand to Germany.
I spoke to an electrician who was doing work last year in Greece for the government and saw 'Drachma' storage bins.
I'll probably wind my neck in as it looks toooo risky ATM.

Nightmare!
Went to look at the apartment. The two 3 beds were sold, 'I thought the first viewing was today? (Tuesday)'said I, 'Ah, yes,but it was the boss who sold them, it went over my head' said stressed auctioneer flunky. ???
Which left the two bed, which for some reason wasnt 'sold' from under my feet, and they were taking offers on it. Chucked in a silly offer and said 'if any of your other interested parties drop out, my moneys there' not expecting to hear from them...........
A guy was found on the same street as the apartments on Monday with his head caved in with a concrete block ....I think someone was trying to tell me something.
To top it all, couldnt get the BC in Eire :laugh: :laugh:

It depends on price with Spain. Ive said myself its a no no, but waiting for some sun in the UK is like waiting for a virgin in Coventry, its there but you have to be patientilovesettsonmondays wrote:was reading an article before hen on the chit chat forum about buying spain . as said before on here spain was a no no . a few were saying berlin a good place to buy . property expected to boom when new airport built next year.
Berlin is a bit radical, but one Ive not thought of, got one in the fire ATM, so will see if its a goer (in Spain funnily enough :laugh: )

my brother lives&works in javea ;got two villas under way both good spec with another one due to start shortly all for english clients,he's also got couple villas he rents out,again top spec but both well booked for this year,I think if cash is not a problem there are some great moves in the right parts of spain;when i'm done with my ongoing project its of to espana ! ps he recons work is best its been for four years ;

Things cannot stay the same for too long.
I dont think Spain will go too tits, but you never know. The Spanish place I was looking at fell through ,sadly, it was too far out in my brothers opinion, would have bought it for a 20th of the cost price. :O
Just agreed a sale for 40 acres of land in Cork. So ,see that one in, then carry on looking for a holiday home.

The banker for spain is that big yellow ball that appears in the sky on a fairly regular basis ,with a strong pound a euro that's not looking good,to say the least, i think there is always going to be market for the brit's without money problems.when my brother moved out there the rate was 168 to the pound,if it where to get up near that mark i would think it could kick of a little bit of a scramble !
