If i wanted to dig down 200 mill, and the area is 30 sq metres, is there a way to work out roughly the size of the skip i would need
No good at maths full stop!!

If you contact your local skip company and tell them how much you need to shift, they should be able to advise on the most suitable size of skip(s).
Skip capacity is usually measured in cubic metres / yards.
Try this: -
If you can imagine a box measuring 1 metre wide x 1 metre deep x 1 metre high it will hold exactly 1 cubic metre.
If you contact your local skip company and tell them how much you need to shift, they should be able to advise on the most suitable size of skip(s).

You will need 1 and a half skips m8, i just dug out twice that size and i filled 3 skips.
Use a skip filling dumper and a mini digger from the hire shops, i filled a skip a day with that combo and i was by myself too.
When you have been doing jobs like that all the time you can basically look at an area and tell how much u got to get rid off, it comes with experience.
