Hi Guys,
I want to get my driveway and patio paved as they are a mess at the moment due to wear and tear. I've had a couple of tradesman out to give me quotes but they all vary a lot. So I would appreciate some advice from you.
I'll describe my driveway and patio...
My driveway is about 28 x 33 ft - currently paved with 3 x 2s. The design at the moment is rows of flags and then gaps between each row which used to be filled with stones - over time the stones have all disappeared due to daily usage of the drive. All I want doing to the drive is to flag it completely with 3 x 2s - tidy, plain, practical. I'll need some drainage putting in too - the main road I live on slopes so drainage is key. I also want the kerb stones putting round the edges of the drive to make it look a little nicer.
The patio at the moment is paved with 1 x 1 flags - they are old and tatty, and the previous owners didn't do a good job as the patio is wonky. There is a set of steps that lead off the patio down to the garden - at the moment the steps are situated to the right hand side of the patio - i want new steps to run all the way along the patio down to the garden - to achieve a more open feel. Again at the rear of the house I just want the patio to be flagged with 3 x 2s so again plain, simple, tidy, low maintenance.
So, how much do you think the job up to now should cost?
Would you advise to get a complete quote including materials and labour? and a quote for just labour? and I source the materials myself? How many days do you think the above job should take for a professional?
In addition to the paving which is the main job that needs to be done asap, I want new fencing all the way down my garden. I know this may not be the right forum to talk about fencing but your comments will be appreciated. As I mentioned the road I live on is on a slope - my neighbours whom I do not particularly get a long with erected fencing prior to me moving in. My house sits on higher grounds than his - i can currently look over his fence. I wish to erect higher fence panels - how do you advise I go about it without having to touch his panels and posts. The fencing job is quite a big job - I need the fence to run from the side of my house to the bottom of the garden which would be approx. 51 meters. Any advice on how best to conduct this job without having to communicate/upsetting the neighbours and what to expect quote wise. In regards to the fence panels I would prefer timber treated.
I look forward to some comments and advice. Thanks for your time for reading!

personally i dont feel 3 by 2s are right for drives
they need to be laid on at least 4 inches of concrete on 4 inches of type1
I would be looking for around £70 per metre but i live in the dirty south :;):
decent fence 100mm post ,close boarded panels and gravel boards you are looking at £40-55 per metre for a quality job
I am guessing as you have a fair bit to do you would be looking at around £2k just for the fence
cheers LLL
