Can somebody point me in the right direction plse? I am buiding a garden wall for friend about 10metres long and around 2-3feet in height! I need to know the following plse :- trench width - filling needed for the trench ie - concrete - best brick/stone to use etc etc
it will also be situated close to a hedge and i am worried about disturbing the underlying root sytem and killing the hedge!! ANY TIPS would be much appriciated!

A wall 600-900mm in height needs to be at least 225mm wide, so your foundation needs to be 450mm wide and 150mm deep concrete with a strength of at least 30N - ask your local concrete company for a C30 type mix at 75mm slump.
I can't advise on best brick or stone as I have no idea of what would look right in your 'friends' garden. There's no point in me recommending Accrington Nori brick if you live in, say, Kent!

With all due respect, Building a 10 metre wall is no job for a novice and your friend may not be too pleased if the finished job is not up to expectations.
My recommendation would be either to get a Brickie in to do it, or go to night classes first. Your local college will have a Bricklaying Basics course.
