Thought I'd share a clip of me laying flags using my dual grade laser.
I use this system on every patio or driveway i do
as you can see no lines no levels are used you not get a more accurate job (I think)

Enjoy

They retail at over 3 grand for that model but you can get different makes a lot cheaper we picked ours up second hand for £800 on eBay with no receiver no box no charger.
Since then I have bought all the bits and can't be without it now

Grading
Paving
Drainage
Shuttering

I used to have one of those. I bought it from a place in Wolverhampton called Site services I think. Very handy bit of kit. Pink, how does it work with putting your fall on the paving? Can you set up a programme for it or something ?

Honestly Luton once you have one right it's a case of making the edges adjacent to the last flag are flush checking with the flat of your hand and using laser really only on the edge sticking out in the middle of nowherelutonlagerlout wrote:I cant help thinking there must be issues at some point with extra riven flags?
i use a laser to set up level and then a string line
then a bit of judgement
on the plus side your mix looks very much like my mix
LLL
I'd advise you to hire one and give it a go

But all I do is set a brick at the two finished elevations set up the laser at the lowest point set the receiver on the stave whilst on the brick, then place stave on higher brick and adjust x axis upward until you hear the continuous tone.

I reckon you are having our leg up Mr.Pink
as well as lines for falls i also use 90 deg lines for square and also for alignment
the quality of your work is not in doubt, but i cant see any man putting a bleeping receiver on the corners of every flag
you only need the leading edge as the rest has to lay to whats there
you dont know the trouble you have caused to DIYers worldwide
hahaha
the weekends full of bleeping coming from gardens
the topcon laser recommended by dave L last year is still doing well on its original non rechargeable batteries
and I am very happy with it
but once i have 150 below dpc and a 1:60 fall what else do i need?

That noise would drive me nuts, I don't even let the lads have a radio on site, so that would have no chance.
Nearly had us fooled there though, didn't you? We do that with the Sub-base, but we use the same methods as Sir Luton and never fails, although it can if your dozy labourer runs over yer pegs with his barrow and then forgets to reset them but it soon becomes obvious when your having to bury the feckin slabs to get them to peg heights!!!:p
