I am on the way to having a local firm lay new pavers to patio area.
One problem area I need advice on. Overhanging part of the patio is a conifer and the current stones have become quite darkened by the resin, I imagine.
Having looked around for pavers in my price range, it looks to be a toss up between, Indian sandstones, Indian limestones or Brazilian slate.
Out of those three, which would be the most resistant to the resin from the conifer. My gut says slate first, then limestone, but not sure.
If I choose slate, what is the best bedding mortar to chose?
Slate would be my first choice but limestone would also be good and sandstone wouldn't be a good choice. Both need sealed to be on the safe side and the slate can be laid like a normal flag on 4:1 semi dry but use an sbr bond bridge to ensure it stays put.
It can be slippery, especially if it's not cleaned regularly, if it's north facing, and the Conifer sap may also add to this, but it's just down to maintenance.
