Gravel - Depth of gravel

Setts and cobbles, tarmac, asphalt, resin systems, concrete whether it's plain, patterned or stencilled, gravels, etc.

Can any one tell me how i work out the best depth of gravel to use and how i go about working out how much to order to cover and area. i'm using 6mm gravel to cover a front garden of approx 58 sq metres
