in my ill fated time in spain as a teenage waster ,my boss wanted a red phone box by his pool as a shower
we dug out and laid around 9 inches of concrete with a drain in the middles, then a week later a flat bed with a crane turned up and lifted it in to place, floor tiles and shower were installed later
the main thing i recall 25 years on is that it was bleedin' heavy
you need a hiab at least

I'm sure thy are iron framed. Clients of ours bought one then dropped it when trying to position it. Cracked the frame and broke the door.

i was suprised the doors are made of oak. i beleive they are 750kg. i dont want to concrete it in, i am thinking of putting it on a base of yorkstone on concrete. then i can move it if i ever need to do maintenance on it.

I remember when they were first decommissioned they were very popular
around £200 each
but TBH they look a bit tacky in all but the most appropriate location
its the post boxes that surprise me
even the faux GR ones are £100

my mate paid £700 for one that i cut into his cavity wall
but tablets keep posting their letters into his house now :(

yes think i remember them being £200 when they were being decomisioned. i was not looking for one, but i bid for one where i was working and got it for £250. it has sat under his shed for about 15-20 years, put there when he bought it. it going in our garden somewhere.

i think it would be quite appropriate in your place dylan
totally out of place on modern estates
when i was a kid nearly every road round our way had a phone box,2p to make a call
last call i tried it was 60p just to connect to a mobile
