I have sympathy there tony
i have something similar i brought of the tv.
You use a holder to grab the veg, and then move that across the blade.
I decided to slice up some red cabbage, and they have an atachment with vertical blades.
The cabbage was too big to fit in the holder so i tried it by hand.
My hand slipped off, and i cut four fingers to the bone.
off down urgent care. was stiched up half an hour later
ouch

ive got one and its a right of passage to slice yourself on them :) adds to the flavour haha, did you get a potato riser or just a heavy masher? ive got a gourmet potato masher and its really heavy and the mashing bit is a series of V shaped rods does a great job, the flat ones with holes in are useless, lots of butter and cream but warm your cream or milk dont use cold as it causes the starch molecules to bind resulting in lumpy mash.
