Whether you got ripped off or not depends on how much you paid for it and what the quote said. Bigger pictures would help though

Its just a rough job. Pointing looks incomplete in places and also seems smudged all over the flags in places. With gaps as tight as that its a complete waste of time trying to get any pointing in there anyway.

You could use some brick acid to remove the smudged cement but make sure its well diluted and that you do a test patch in an inconspicuous place

I think it looks crap, no straight levels etc, poor finish.

What was the cost, this is key

As I said before its just a rough job all round. Haunches are messy, grid detail just thrown in and its got more lips than Mick Jagger. Lazy finish IMO

cheers for all the replies.
the cost is £730.
the problem is that is looks crap and half the slabs aren't level with the next slab.(mick jagger lips i believe!)
some of the slabs move underfoot, but according to the guy who did it, i'm being pedantic!
the paving is higher than the outside bog, so water now runs into it.
i also thought that it has to be 15cm below the dpc injection holes, but it isn't. (sorry, not shown in photos)
i also thought that the paving sloped excessively at one side, but maybe thats ok?

What is underneath the paving? did they install a sub-base, excavate any spoil, skips etc?

If it is around 20mtrs id want around £1000.00 - £1200.00 for a proper job...so looks like youve got what youve paid for (or was quoted) im afraid.

730? I would need around 1600 for that area, you buy cheap you get cheap

never had flagging done before, and as the other quote i got was for £800, i didn't think it was excessively cheap. guess using sites like ratedpeople isn't a good idea after all.
how much would the materials cost?

its way too cheap for a decent job
however it aint right if slabs are moving and its uneven
not sure but i believe a trip hazard is defined as anything over 5mm
I wouldnt be happy with it but then i couldnt do it for that money
there is no easy fix other than hook the lot out and relay
LLL :(

And yep rated people etc are crap, i passed you the details from here from mybuilder, we get a lot of leads but most people want cheap rather than proper job. Hence why those sites are full of 95% bodgers. They continue to get worse as time passes and the reputation of those sites is questioned more and more

Couldn't see how bad that was before, the pics were to small, but now your talking. I wouldn't want that guy back anyway. If you've not paid him, don't. I'd probably just give him back the materials and call it quits. Then get someone who knows what they're doing to put it right. Where are you located?
