Hey guys. Just wondering what you all do to keep energy up?

I am sometimes really good with soldiering on and other days I feel knackered. Anyway, I've stopped drinking more that 3 coffees a day or having energy drinks and I'm feeling rough since stopping.

My bro has been off for 2 weeks for surgery so I thought I'd try and save some money by not getting any help and putting in the hours. Did 13 days in a row of average 12 hour days finishing last saturday and I've felt washed out ever since. Is this what it's like being in your 30s or is it burn out from too much work. Thing is I've been sleeping like a baby and getting 8 or 9 hours a night so I should be well rested.

Reason I ask is that I have a lot of objectives to cover over the next couple of years to get were I want to go and I was considering just working all the time unless I had something fun to do like a festival or something but now I am not sure whether this is actually viable anymore. Only been 34 once so don't know whether I am finally getting a bit old or should I start doing some cardio or is it just knocking the caffeine on the head.

cheers

do you drink much?
i find a heavy night on the drink ruins my sleep pattern for days
there is a reason why there are 5 days in a week and 2 at the weekend
the human body needs to relax to recover
about your age i did 40 days on the spin
great money but felt like a zombie
at least 1 day a week off i feel is the minimum

No I don't drink much really. I used too but I have a health condition which means I shouldn't really drink heavily so I get through about a bottle or 2 of wine a week in the evenings but generally get totally trashed about 4 times a year. Can't say that's an average yet cos this is only my second year of temperence.

I fear you could be right about the 6 days thing. Might be wise to work on efficiency as opposed to slogging it out!

Whilst the physical work is often very exhausting don't underestimate the stress of being under pressure, getting quotes done and sent and the usual headaches of problems forcing a few extra days on a job etc knock on effect on schedule.

These greatly add to the mix but it depends what type of work you do.

Personally i am a big believer in drinking all day (juice/water not booze) Most days i get through 2 1.5l bottles of ribena type juice and when i forget it i have noticed feeling less energetic.

and I hate water. I hardly drink anything other than coffee or lucozade. Since cutting down on the coffee and lucozade I have drank much at all but I never feel thirsty or in need of a drink!

I can't eat first thing in the morning so porridge is out. I generally grab a burger or sandwich around 10 ish. I've been eating alot of chips lately cos a job I've been on is near the best local chippy for about 10 miles. Dinner has been between 8 and 9pm and usually an oven meal. I'm single lol!

I could do with a traditional wife. I'll happily work all the time if she does everything else!

gonna buy a litre of juice tomorrow and mix it 5o/50 with water and force myself to drink it!

of course you can eat in the morning its a matter of training yourself
if you take the c out of chips that is what you get from them
porridge releases energy thro ugh the day
chips burgers etc are pure shite energy wise
try some of those microwave porridges piece of pish to do
cinnamon is a nice one and only takes 2 mins in the micro

No honestly I can't. I feel like I am gonna puke for about an hour if I eat something first thing unless I'm hungover and it has the opposite effect. In fact although I love porridge, particularly with cinnamon and a bit of honey an salt it's the worst thing for that.

I have to be active for at least an hour b4 I eat. Also I can't put on weight. I'm skinny/muscular and even when I lifted for 2 years in my 20s and ate 4000 cals daily I was never above 82 kilos 8% bf at 6ft. Now I'm like 73 kilos and 6% bf and I eat nothing but shit!

I somtimes go all "floppy" and feel like i could fall asleep on the spot! then generally come too a bit and then feel crap for the rest of the day.

Porridge is good i used to have it, and i did notice the difference.

My day usually consists of bacon butty at home around 6.30 ish, couple of buttys, bag of crisps and a brew at 10, some form of take away at lunch usually chippy or something, then tea at 6 ish.

Im on and off smoking at the mo, and i find no fags makes me restless and have endless energy, when i was fully quit a few weeks ago i could work 12 hours a day then go to the gym and feel ok - increased blood oxygen levels i believe are the cause :)

I've only had 1 ciggy in 3 days. Trying to quit also.

Gonna up my fluid intake, stay off the fags, and try out a paleo diet with dairy if I can organised enough to shop and pack my lunches. Money saver if nothing else. Spending at least £70 a week on crap atm!
